Behind me are decades of fieldwork, laboratory research, and nearly 10,000 hectares of experience. Getting here wasn't fast, but it was worth it.

Hi everyone! I'm Dr. Csongor Kiss, Head of Product Development at Nitrogénművek Zrt. and expert consultant for Hobby Garden.

The path that led me here

I earned my degree in Environmental Ecology at the University of Debrecen, then a PhD at the Doctoral School of Plant Cultivation and Horticultural Sciences. In 2011, I joined Nitrogénművek Zrt., where as the project manager for the "Club of 500," I coordinated field experiments on nearly 10,000 hectares for five years. The essence of the program: to provide precise expert advice to Hungarian farmers based on soil samples, not relying on the "my grandfather did it this way" logic, but on actual data.

After that, I managed the Horticultural Business Unit of Nitrogénművek: I dealt with vegetables-fruits, grapes, ornamental plants, and hobby gardening. This period opened my eyes to the world of small gardens. I realized that a tomato in a balcony pot has just as serious nutrient requirements as a 100-hectare field. Only the scale is different.

What I bring to Hobby Garden

Today, as Head of Product Development and expert consultant, I work every day to ensure that the latest scientific findings work not only in the lab but also in your garden. I support the Hobby Garden team as a professional partner: I translate large-scale experience and research knowledge into small gardens.

Because the plant doesn't know which garden it's in. Its nutrient needs are the same, whether on a balcony or in a field.

My mission is education and environmental protection. I want you to confidently know what, when, and why you are putting into your garden.
